Months ago Barack Obama predicted the SCOTUS ruling on handguns which was handed down last week in a 5-4 decision.
Here he is in December 2007 at an event in Mt. Vernon, Iowa:
If you don’t want to hear it straight from him, here is a transcript of the pertinent text:
“The 2nd Amendment Right is an individual right and not just a right of militia and that’s where I expect the Supreme Court to rule. I think that is a fair reading of the text of the Constitution. I respect the right of lawful gun owners to hunt, fish, protect their families.”
I’m not so sure he would still say that gun owners can shoot fish, but I don’t hear any flip-flopping on the right to bear arms.
The Illinois Senator taught Constitutional law at the college level.
He probably has a pretty good grasp of the legal concepts in the 2nd Amendment.
The NRA has planned to put $40 million into adverts before the election this fall.
More than a third of that will be devoted to attacking Barack Obama on the issue of gun rights.
-from 7-3-8 NY Times
My question is: Where exactly is that other 2/3 of $40 million going to be used?
